Lean, Green and Growing!
This is the mission of PJC during these hard economic times. With the current cuts from the state budget and more to come, PJC President Dr. Ed Meadows and his concerned Board of Trustees have proposed a series of cost saving measures. PJC is working hard to maximize student and taxpayer dollars.
Outlined below are a few of those proposed cost saving measures:
- Increased use of technology through conservation, modernization, and computerization of utilities and telecommunications
-
Administrative & professional staff teaching classes (e.g. Dept. heads)
-
Increase average class sizes
-
Reduce Keegan (contracted) staff on-campus
-
Reduce the use of office supplies
-
Decreased Learning Resource Center (LRC) hours of operation
-
Faculty have volunteered to substitute for other faculty, without pay
-
Minimized library periodicals and serial subscriptions
-
Reduced employee travel
-
Stacked low enrollment classes in certain programs
-
Faculty office hours being fulfilled at student labs enrolled in developmental studies
-
Lean Office Assessments being conducted
Dr. Meadows also released some revenue generating strategies. Those are outlined below:
-
Increase enrollment & student retention growth through marketing and advertising, new program development and customer service
-
Using a more aggressive pursuit of grants
-
Increasing on-campus auxiliary services (e.g. food services)
-
Tuition increases
