It’s a record year for the Pensacola Junior College Dual Enrollment program where students can complete two years of college while earning a high school diploma.
The college announces that 60 high school students are graduating May 6 from PJC with an associate of arts degree – making them college grads before becoming high school grads. That’s 20 more students than in 2007 and 2006.
The breakdown: 26 home-schooled students, 27 Santa Rosa County high school students and 7 Escambia County high school students.
“This is definitely a record year for us,” says Mary Esslinger, Dual Enrollment coordinator at PJC. “When I started my job seven years ago, we had five students who accomplished this marvelous feat.
